Occupational Therapy for Adults

There are so many skills we need to pursue our dreams (and get through our day). Gain the tools to overcome obstacles and accomplish your goals with greater confidence and ease.

We specialize in working with neurodivergent (Autistic and ADHDer) adults and young adults.

Build confidence in your life skills

The skills you need to build and maintain an adult life are not always taught in school. And you may feel like, for some reason, the real life lessons just don’t seem to be sticking.

An occupational therapist can support you in learning effective mindsets and practical strategies that will allow you to create space for yourself and your needs in a busy modern world.

If you are looking for an individualized, action-oriented approach with guidance, accountability, and compassion, occupational therapy might be a good fit for you.

By the way, what is occupational therapy?

Occupational therapists specialize in understanding how we occupy our time. This has a big impact on our health, functioning, and well-being.

Our lifestyle - the types and flow of activities we engage in - affect us physically, emotionally, and cognitively.

We can help you figure out your strengths and challenges, then guide you in building skills to overcome barriers and pursue what really matters to you.

Occupational Therapy for Chronic Conditions

Many neurodivergent individuals experience co-occurring health conditions, such as dysautonomia, hypermobility spectrum disorders, sleep disorders, immune disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, metabolic disorders, migraines, mast cell dysfunction, brain fog, chronic fatigue, and chronic pain. These overlapping conditions can interact in complex ways — impacting every aspect of daily life.

At Spectrum Psych LA, our occupational therapists (OTs) support neurodivergent individuals with chronic conditions using a practical, individualized approach.

We focus on helping clients better understand and address their patterns to support whole body regulation, emotional well-being, and sustainable habits and routines.

Occupational therapy sessions may include:

  • Energy conservation and pacing strategies to recover from and prevent burnout

  • Sensory and somatic regulation techniques to proactively manage stimulation and stress

  • Adaptations for daily routines, meaningful activities, work, rest, and play, especially when attention, executive function, and energy levels fluctuate

  • Environmental modifications to reduce strain and increase accessibility

  • Cognitive supports for attention regulation, decision making, planning, and problem solving

  • Mind-body awareness and interoception training to recognize early signs of overexertion or overwhelm

  • Advocacy and self-advocacy to effectively communicate with the people, providers, and systems that impact your health

  • Symptom tracking to provide insight and clarity around triggers and flares

We take a collaborative and flexible approach, recognizing that each client’s needs may shift from day to day. Our goal is to help individuals build routines and supports that are realistic, sustainable, and aligned with their goals.

This work is grounded in supporting participation in everyday life — at home, at work, and in the community — in ways that feel manageable and supportive over time.
