Jamie Barstein, PhD | Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Jamie Barstein is a licensed clinical psychologist who provides comprehensive diagnostic assessments as well as individual and family therapy for people of all ages - from toddlers to adults. She specializes in working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

In her clinical practice, Dr. Barstein takes an integrative approach, drawing on evidence-based strategies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) as well as relational and supportive therapy, always tailoring care to the individual. Her areas of expertise include treatment of anxiety, behavioral challenges, executive functioning difficulties, and behavioral interventions for sleep. She is also well-versed in parent training and family therapy and values collaboration across providers. A guiding principle of her work is a neurodivergent-affirming lens: she supports clients in building skills and confidence while helping them feel comfortable and authentic in who they are. She also leads Spectrum Psych LA's support group for neurodivergent adults.

Dr. Barstein is an LGBTQ+-affirming therapist with specialized training in gender diversity. She is especially passionate about supporting neurodivergent individuals who are exploring sexual or gender identity and is committed to providing care that affirms and celebrates identity.

Dr. Barstein is also passionate about healthy sexual development and community education. She has previously led sex education groups, provides trainings for other clinicians on neurodivergent-affirming care, and advocates to expand menstrual equity and education as an Ambassador for The Pad Project.

Dr. Barstein values whole-person care and, in her own life, emphasizes balance through food, movement, and rest. She also loves traveling and spending time with extended family and friends. Outside of work, you can find her outdoors with her husband, two children, and their very loved dog.
