Sara Winograd, PsyD | Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Sara Winograd is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in the assessment and treatment of individuals with learning disabilities, ADHD and co-occurring social-emotional concerns including anxiety, OCD, depression, and post-traumatic stress. She is licensed to practice in both New York and California.

She earned her PsyD in Clinical Child and School Psychology from Yeshiva University, completing externships at New York Presbyterian/Weil Cornell Medicine, the New York Foundling child welfare agency, and the Churchill School, a school for students with language-based learning disabilities. She also worked as a study therapist for a randomized clinical trial of a manualized psychodynamic therapy to foster emotion regulation. She completed her predoctoral and postdoctoral fellowships at Yale Child Study Center. In addition to advanced training in the assessment and treatment of individuals with anxiety and mood disorders, learning disabilities, ADHD, and ASD, she specialized in trauma-focused care, delivering Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), as well as psychodynamic approaches. Dr. Winograd then served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) and the Keck School of Medicine of USC. At CHLA’s Behavioral Health Institute, she provided trauma-informed, neurodivergent- and gender-affirming therapy, lectured trainees on topics related to psychoeducational and neuropsychological assessment, and expanded the Boone Fetter Clinic’s assessment offerings to include individuals with academic and attentional difficulties.

Dr. Winograd’s dual training in clinical psychology and school psychology informs her understanding of the interplay among learning disorders, executive functioning, social and emotional difficulties, and the importance of evaluating and treating individuals with this complexity in mind. She values multidisciplinary collaboration and when appropriate, regularly works closely with parents, teachers, and providers to enhance care. Dr. Winograd utilizes an integrative approach, drawing from cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and family systems treatments and centering the therapeutic relationship. In addition to assessing and treating individuals with neurodevelopmental concerns, she is adept at providing holistic, evidence-based treatments for anxiety, OCD, and depression, using exposure-based approaches and integrating family treatment when clinically indicated.

Dr. Winograd is also well-versed in delivering evidence-based parent guidance treatments, including Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), and Parent Management Training (PMT). She has conducted group and individual interventions to support parents in coping with child anxiety and somatic symptoms, managing their child’s executive functioning challenges, and responding effectively to disruptive behavior.

Dr. Winograd enjoys running, swimming, and playing pickleball. Originally from New York, she enjoys trying all the delicious pizza LA has to offer.
